Importación temporal de embarcaciones

Vessels must be imported when visiting Mexican territory, which includes a 12-mile diameter from any Mexican island. Below is a link to apply for a 10-year authorization (Temporary Importation Permit). The estimated cost is $90 USD – however, this varies on the value of the peso at the time.

ACTIONS BY VISITOR:

Pay the permit fee on the web portal, submit required documentation, and display the permit with hologram onboard. SAC encourages vessel owners to make copies, as Banjercito does not issue replacements.

ACTIONS BY BANJERCITO:

Review application and mail the permit within 5-7 business days. An email will be sent within 24 hours to accept or deny the application with instructions on what to do next. Applicants may contact Banjercito to inquire about the status of their permit at itvnet@banjercito.com.mx, including the FOLIO number from the payment receipt. Banjercito issues a full refund on denied applications.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A TIP

To start the application, have the following documents scanned on separate PDF files. Please note that the website will only accept PDF files that do not exceed 1MB.

  1. Passport (from vessel owner or representative)
  2. Vessel registration (State or Federal).
  3. Credit card (cardholder must match vessel owner or representative)
  4. Power of Attorney (authorizing applicant to legally represent the boat when applying for Temporary Importation Permit. Must be notarized)

Visit the Banjercito website to submit an application and payment.

Follow instructions and download a copy of the receipt, as it may be needed to follow up if the Temporary Importation Permit does not arrive after 7 business days (consider Mexican holidays).

A fee of $1,022 pesos (one thousand and twenty two 00/100 Mexican pesos) per vessel is set by the Federal Fee Act (Ley Federal de Derechos).

This permit is be valid for 10 years, however, should the vessel change ownership, Mexican law requires vessel owners/representatives to cancel the current permit. Simply return the permit at any Banjercito booth on the last trip to Mexico. ONLY THEN will new owners be able to apply for a new permit.

Banjercito will cancel applications when applicants fail to submit appropriate documents or if submitted information is insufficient or incorrect. A full refund is then issued.

Applicants may contact Banjercito to itvnet@banjercito.com.mx and /or banjetel@banjercito.com.mx with the FOLIO number located in the payment receipt, and inquire about the permit status. When a permit is denied, an email is sent to the applicant with instructions on how to comply.
